History
Immanuel Baptist Church was formed in 1947 as William Street Baptist Church. But the beginnings of Immanuel Baptist go all the way back to 1944.
Early Beginnings
In the summer of 1944, a group of people decided to attend a local tent meeting. Afterwards, this small group of people decided to start a prayer meeting. Not long after, this group attended another tent meeting. It was there that they met Rev. Paul Gales. They invited Rev. Gales to join their prayer band.
After some time, the prayer meeting began to grow and reached nearly 75 people. They quickly realized that they would need a permanent meeting place. They then decided to take the prayer band and form a church with them calling Rev. Paul Gales to be the pastor. The church had it's first official service in June of 1947.
Still Going Strong
Since the inception of Immanuel Baptist Church, the church has continued to do the work of the gospel. We have had 10 different pastors who have faithfully preached the gospel of Jesus Christ.
